B:30 sits on 10 acres of open high desert outside Prineville — no tree cover, no neighbors visible, just sagebrush, gravel, and the unobstructed ring of the horizon. The Cascade peaks show themselves across the flat all day; at night the sky fills edge to edge with stars. Zero light pollution means the Milky Way comes out on a clear new moon, and guests with telescopes have reported shooting stars so bright they lit the ground.
Three separate gravel-pad sites sit spread across the property — "very well maintained and low key," as one guest put it. Larry and Gretchen have thought through the desert reality: propane fire pits at every site (year-round burn ban means no wood fires, but the propane runs warm), path lighting so you can find the outhouse after dark, and a fully equipped outdoor kitchen at the group site with a propane stove, BBQ, and sink. The group site's outdoor shower runs Memorial Day through Labor Day — a genuine luxury on a hot August afternoon.
No potable water on site — bring your own. No shade trees — a canopy is worth packing in summer. Those are the honest realities. What you get in return: a short walk from parking to your pad, a compostable outhouse that multiple guests called the cleanest they'd found on Hipcamp, and 10 acres where quiet hours mean quiet. The Crooked River, Prineville Reservoir, and the Millican Valley OHV system are all 15 minutes away. Bend and Prineville are each about 30 minutes.
One group site with a full outdoor kitchen, two separate tent pads with their own fire pits. All on flat gravel, all under that same open sky.
Two separate 12' × 14' flat gravel pads big enough for any reasonable tent. The only site with the full outdoor kitchen — propane stove, BBQ, and sink — plus 4 lounge chairs, a propane fire pit, and a seasonal outdoor shower (Memorial Day through Labor Day). Rated 96% recommend across 80 reviews.
"The sky was SPECTACULAR. Thank you L&G for sharing your lovely property."
Very private location with amazing views of the mountains, unobstructed sunrise and sunset and the STARS! Zero light pollution means a sky full of twinkling stars. Absolutely phenomenal!
The sites are very spread out, graded and graveled, and really thoughtfully designed. We were there during a new moon so the sky was SPECTACULAR. I will remind folks that this is an area where people live and work, but it is FAR superior to staying in a crowded, loud, messy campground. Thank you L&G for sharing your lovely property.
Site delivered exactly on what we wanted — natural setup in the middle of the high desert with a simple but well kept setup. Description was very accurate. Night sky is fantastic here — away from city lights with very little light pollution. Good distance for exploring Bend and the surrounding areas.
This location is perfect for star gazing and getting away from it all. Cell service is strong, but I spent two days alone with a telescope and soaked up some beautiful night skies. I even saw a massive shooting star streak across the sky! The bathroom is by far one of the best and cleanest I have experienced on HipCamp!
Larry and Gretchen have built three thoughtful desert sites on their 10-acre property — a group site with a full outdoor kitchen and seasonal shower, and two individual tent pads each with their own propane fire pit and lounge chairs. Guests note that they respond quickly when something needs attention: when one group had trouble starting the fire pit, Larry was quick to help. The bathroom is a point of pride — consistently described by guests as one of the cleanest on all of Hipcamp. They know the desert: they've stocked propane at every site because the year-round fire ban is real, and they've lit the path to the outhouse because desert nights get genuinely dark.
Availability, rates, and booking all live on Hipcamp. Three sites, any combination — solo or the whole group.
